Rani Foods Inc is a true American success story. Ramesh & Phulan Chander emigrated to the U.S. in April 1969. Jobs being hard to come by they both started entry level jobs living paycheck to paycheck. Over the years they experienced the same problems many Indian families do staying true to their heritage, authentic ingredients were very hard to find and the necessity to provide food for the family and friends they decided to risk all they had and open the first Indian Ethnic store in Southern California June 21, 1979. With a good business sense and entrepreneurship, it quickly expanded to a wholesale and manufacturing company and became a leader fine Indian Foods.
A niche market did not exist for high end Indian Food products. Premium grade export quality ingredients for foods packaged in attractive mediums were not available. From PET to eight color poly-laminate bags with informative labels, recipes, bar codes and proper nutritional information are what put Rani above the rest. Most doubted if these products would be accepted at all in the ethnic market, due to its popularity and the demand for savory food it thrived.
There is market data that indicates Indian Food will be the next popular trend in ethnic foods. Rani Foods Inc. and Rani Brand with over three hundred products, strive to be the forerunner.
